Our Origins

Where a new chapter began.

✦

On 30 December 1906, Muslim leaders met in Dhaka, then part of British India, and established the All-India Muslim League at the conclusion of the Muhammadan Educational Conference.

Initially established to advance Muslim political representation and protect community interests, the League’s objectives evolved over the decades. Under Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s leadership, it became central to the movement that led to the creation of Pakistan in 1947.

History & Legacy

Remembering the past. Understanding its impact.

The All-India Muslim League’s history is inseparable from the constitutional debates, political aspirations, and transformations that reshaped South Asia in the first half of the twentieth century.

The creation of Pakistan in 1947 was a defining outcome of the League’s later political campaign. Partition also brought profound displacement, violence and loss — human consequences essential to a thoughtful remembrance of the period.
